Meet the Caherconnell Collies

Sheltered from the weather enjoy our Caherconnell shepherds showing great skill working with our clever captivating collies to provide phenomenal sheep dog demonstrations. Young and young alike are enthralled and enraptured by the collies skills and enthusiasm, better still there is always plenty of time for doggy cuddles and selfies after their hard work.
Lee

Older and wiser, Lee is the most experienced member of our team. She is particularly good at close in work where lots of know how is needed on the part of the dog.

Lynn

Lynn is a classic crossover dog working with both cattle and sheep – the eye candy of the group, she enjoys taking a little spin around as her party piece.

Sheepdog Rose

Rose is the fast mover of our group – keep a close eye on her while she is patient with the sheep she can be gone in 60 seconds.

Sheepdog Jess

Jess is the youngest member of the team – she is still learning her trade and sometimes finds working in partnership with the older dogs a challenge.

About

Demonstrations

The shepherd will guide the dogs to retrieve the sheep from out in the Burren landscape and skilfully drive them back to their holding. Using whistle and voice the shepherd displays a symbiotic relationship with his loyal dogs who display tenacity and utter focus, they do not relax until their job is done.. then however it is play time as the shepherd explains the various breeds whilst the dogs lollop for belly rubs and cuddles. Baby lambs are also available for cuddles and there are lots of opportunities for photos and selfies with our very photogenic animals (and shepherds!).

“The sheepdogs are the star of this establishment! The demonstration was enjoyable, but being able to pet and interact with these sweet animals was truly a highlight for me.

There is a small cafe that was very good and had a nice selection of sandwiches, soups, coffee, and treats. The visit to Fort was informative. Our guide was entertaining and knowledgeable. I highly recommend this experience for anyone traveling to Ireland!

“The sheepdog demo was one of the highlights of our trip.  It was amazing to see Lynn, Rose, Lee, and Jess work.  They are so incredibly smart.  We loved getting to spend time with them after the demo and getting to hold a baby lamb was special.  Don’t miss this experience!

If you arrive early, you can grab coffee and a bite to eat in the cafe. The staff is so friendly and the lemon meringue pie was delish!”

This experience was really cool! The border collies are so well-trained and it’s amazing to see them in action. We got a lot of information on how the dogs are trained and then see it all in practice. There’s a gift shop, bathrooms, and a little Cafe here as well
