At heart of the Burren on Ireland’s Wild Atlantic Way

Caherconnell Fort is located in the heart of the Burren on the R480 just 1km from Poulnabrone Dolmen. This stunning historical site is home to Caherconnell Fort Sheepdog Demonstrations as well as Caherconnell Archaeological Field School – a long term research project dedicated to enhancing our understanding of this internationally important historical location.

Parking

At Caherconnell Fort our car park in located next to our visitor centre and is fully wheelchair accessible.

Public Transport

There is a FREE bus service from Corrofin to the Trail heads of each walk in the Burren National Park. The bus runs daily from May to August. Find out more about public transport in the Burren here.

Bus Parking

If you are travelling in a group or touring by private bus, please contact us in advance and we can confirm bus space availability and avoid over crowding in our car park.

Accessibility

The Caherconnell site is fully wheelchair accessible, and staff are always available to help those who need assistance. For those with mobility issues parking is available in the VIP parking area, just adjacent to the visitor centre. Should assistance be required please call us in advance of arrival and we will be on hand to assist.
