Meet Our Shepherds

We have two shepherds here at Caherconnell who skilfully train and work the dogs –  through voice commands and the whistle they can direct the dogs to work individually and as a team. The dogs are agile and completely focused and love to work hard. John Davoren is the current owner of Caherconnell and has been training and working with sheepdogs for over 50 years. He has a symbiotic and close relationship with the dogs and they are truly loyal to him and attentive to his commands. 

The second shepherd is Greg has been working with the dogs for over 10 years. He  demonstrates great skill with the border collie ladies. Both shepherds are very entertaining and amusing during the demonstrations and laughter fills the air. 

After their hard work the collies love cuddles, photo’s and play time as do our visitors

Caherconnell remains a working farm today, you can enjoy cheese made from the milk of the dairy herd in the cafe. When our sheepdogs aren’t basking in the appreciation of their fans you can find them out on the hills helping John and Greg preserve the traditional skills of upland farming as practiced by generations of the Davoren family here at Caherconnell.
