Pat | The History Buff

Pat believes every castle, ruin and town has a story waiting to be told. His lifelong love of history began in primary school, where his teacher, Brother Campion, brought the past vividly to life through stories, art and imagination—a passion that has stayed with him ever since.

Originally from Athy, Co. Kildare, Pat has called the west of Ireland home for decades, and he brings warmth, humour and an endless curiosity to every tour. His goal is simple: to leave visitors smiling, inspired, and saying, “Wow, I never knew that!”

James | The Storyteller

If the Burren could talk, it would probably sound a lot like James. A proud local with stories for every hill, stone and winding boreen, he’s on a mission to prove that history is anything but dusty.

Expect ancient legends, local folklore, plenty of laughs and the odd tale that leaves you wondering if the fairies might just be real after all.

Born and raised in the Burren, James brings the landscape to life with the warmth, wit and storytelling tradition that has been passed down through generations.

Ian | The Musician & Scholar

Ian may have been born in Bath, England, but around Caherconnell he’s affectionately known as an honorary Irishman. Living in the heart of the Burren since 2016, he has immersed himself in Irish traditional music for well over a decade, earning degrees in traditional music and ethnomusicology before completing a PhD exploring the rich history and traditions of the tin whistle.

A talented musician, Ian performs on tin whistle and bouzouki, sings traditional songs, and is passionate about preserving the music, stories and heritage of the region.

Whether he’s guiding visitors around Caherconnell Stone Fort or sharing a tune, Ian brings curiosity, scholarship and plenty of good humour to every encounter—proving that sometimes the greatest champions of Irish culture are the ones who choose to make Ireland home.
