Caherconnell Sheepdog Demonstrations recently received an Award for Excellence at the CIE Tours International award ceremony which took place recently in Dublin Castle. The award was presented by Vivienne Jupp chairperson of CIE Tours International and Peter Malone-CIE board member. The award is a further recognition of the popularity of these demonstrations among visitors to the Burren. Visitors attended the sheepdog demonstrations at Caherconnell. Visitor surveys were independently assessed and an overwhelming 95% recorded a high level of satisfaction. . John Davoren, owner and trainer of the dogs at Caherconnell accepted the award describing it as ‘A proud moment for everyone who has worked to achieve it’ The Sheepdog demonstrations are the latest addition to the Caherconnell experience which boasts the ancient Caherconnell Stone Fort as well as international Archaeological and Geological field schools. John credits much of the success at Caherconnell to his motivated staff who he says ‘set themselves only the highest of standards to provide customers with the best possible experience during their visit here’ The demonstrations at Caherconnell are completed on the Karst landscape of the Burren region using expertly trained pure bred border collies. The success of the demonstrations at Caherconnell and their recognition on the national stage is a further boost to the North Clare region and serves to further cement its place as one of the prime Holiday destinations in the west of Ireland.
